Sometimes when you mess with a classic it works out. This place has won attention and praise for messing with the lobster rolls, serving them warm with melted butter or cold with mayonnaise, and their customers love both. The lobster stew is made with all the knuckle and claw meat left from the busy business in lobster rolls. You can be assured there’s no frozen lobster meat here. A seafood fra diavolo—scallops, shrimp, mussels, and a whole lobster cooked in a spicy tomato sauce full of herbs, garlic, and bay leaf, served on linguine ($24.95)—made one customer exclaim it was the best he’d had.

But seafood lovers can explain to their reluctant children and spouses who can’t stand shellfish that there’s a nice strip steak here, or some crunchy garlic lemon-butter artichoke hearts ($5.95).
