The best of the season will appear on the plates here.
Owner Jessica Gorton started with the idea of a teahouse, but her friendly, comfortable place has grown into a fine dinner spot. Either way you will find dishes and plates sure to satisfy, and of course teas and wines to sip alongside.
The Farmer's Market plate, with radishes, Debbie Hahn's cheeses and York Hill Farm goat cheese, John's rabbit rillette, a rough, shredded rabbit terrine, Spear's fresh sweet corn, and Gabrielle's three bean salad ($8.75) is a lunch dish or appetizer featuring the local stars, all farmers with a gift for growing the best on their land.
Bruschetta is made with Jon's tomatoes, garlic confit, fresh goat cheese, pea tendrils, extrra virgin olive oil and Pedro Ximenze vinegar ($8.75).
Dinners have recently included new fangled lobster cakes -- adding panko and vegetables like carrots, herbs, and green peppers -- and Sun Gold tomato salsa, seared radicchio and fresh Maine potato chips ($18.75). Restaurant manager Davielle's favorite is the roasted summer squash, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, goat-cheese-stuffed squash bloom, and raw corn soba noodle salad ($16.75).
Look for some juicy sauteed greens in the dinner plates, a highlight of a dinner here in early summer.
Desserts employ the fruit bounty of mid-summer; caramelized trifle is topped with raspberries, and wild blueberry compote accompanies a sweet ricotta blintz. Scones, pastries, and cakes are freshly made for the best tea party to be had.
