Sunset Acres Farm in Brooksville is in dire need of help milking 140 plus goats, also known as "the girls." Bob Bowen, who makes deliveries of Sunset Acres fabulous goat's milk cheeses in the Portland area on Wednesdays, bemoaned the lack of help, which straps him down and prevents the cheese from getting delivered and into our greedy mouths.

This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning the fine art of cheesemaking. Anne Bossie, Bob's wife, presides over the aging of lovely bloomy rind goat's milk cheese, including one called Stonington Granite. Fresh goat's milk cheese plain and flavored -- I love the chipotle, but can't always get my hands on it -- are a mainstay of the local cheese markets. Go to sunsetacresfarm.com to learn more about the farm.

Steve Corry, chef and owner, with his wife and partner Michelle, of five fifty-five restaurant in Portland, has won recognition as one of 10 Best New Chefs in 2007  from Food and Wine Magazine. The annual award goes to the top ten chefs, chosen from hundreds, whom the magazine considers best exemplars of fine, innovative cooking; many on the 2007 list are chef/owners of small restaurants that feature, as Corry does, local ingredients. He will be written up in the July issue of the magazine with nine others from across the country.

In 2004, Portland's wonderful chef Rob Evans, of Hugo's, won this honor, the first time a Maine chef had been chosen.
